Delano Williams describes himself as someone who always knew there was more than what he was currently doing out there in the world. He's always had a deep desire to experience all that life has to offer. "Prior to CyberCoders, I would say that I did a lot of dreaming and visualizing what I wanted to accomplish. My time at CyberCoders has made those goals a reality."
Earlier this week, we had the opportunity to learn more about Delano and hear his advice for anyone looking to join CyberCoders.
1. What is your favorite part about being a recruiter?
I would have to say my favorite part about being a recruiter is the fact that we work in a win-win business. Everything that we do is in the best interest of the aspiring Candidate or our Clients. Witnessing the happiness that occurs when you’ve done your job well and connect a candidate to your client who has been looking for specific talent there is no greater feeling in this business.
2. Tell us about an exciting job match you made recently.
Recently, I had the pleasure of connecting a Post-Closing Manager with a brand-new client that I just picked up. They were looking for a candidate that had experience building out departments and running massive teams. After a few calls and emails to some qualified candidates, I came across the perfect match who at first my client tried to pass on. I got her on the phone and broke down why she would be a good fit and long behold after one interview my client thanked me for shaking her by the shoulders to interview her and they hit it off immediately. The candidate was able to get a 20K raise and my client was super happy with my work as well as the candidate.
3. How has CyberCoders supported your success?
CyberCoders has given me all the tools and training to be a self-sufficient recruiter with skills that will continue to help me support myself and the ones I love. From onboarding and training with Sarah Boutwell to tips and industry tricks from my direct manager Chuck Cooke. CyberCoders creates an environment for those who want to compete and collaborate efficiently to reach their highest heights. The constant recognition and support that we receive help us to stay focused and keep reaching new goals.
4. What personal and professional goals has CyberCoders helped you achieve?
When I started in the middle of the pandemic I had just been laid off from my last sales position. I had no income and CyberCoders recruited me to join their team. In the year that I have been with CyberCoders, I have been able to become debt-free, invest, travel, and support those who I hold close to my heart. Professionally they have given me the pathway to new heights in Sales becoming an Associate Manager in just my first year and building out my own team. With any other company, I worked with in the past the road to management was not so clear.
5. What advice would you give to someone interested in joining your team?
The number one piece of advice I would give anyone in this business is to focus on what you can control. We as recruiters deal with so many variables that we must focus on the part of the job that’s solely up to us. Our effort and our consistency is what will set you apart from others. Secondly, I would say have fun and lean on the people that have been doing this longer than you, they know what they are talking about for sure.
