Development & Tax Finance Attorney

Position Overview
We are seeking a Development & Tax Finance Attorney with 4+ years of experience to join us in our Syracuse, NY office. For this role we are looking for someone with a background in federal tax law related to business transactions, real estate development projects, and state tax credits. You will focus on providing legal guidance related to business formation, financing, tax credits, and business agreements, ensuring compliance and maximizing the benefits for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on federal tax implications for commercial real estate development transactions(multifamily projects included).
  • Assist clients with business formation and structuring to optimize tax efficiency(LLC, Corporations, ect).
  • Draft, review, and negotiate business agreements and financing documents.
  • Advise on tax credits and incentives applicable to real estate development projects.
  • Research and analyze complex tax issues and develop strategies for compliance.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations affecting real estate and business finance.
  • Assist with M&A financing and transaction structure

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice in the state of NY is a MUST
  • 4+ years of experience in tax law, with a focus on commercial real estate.
  • Strong understanding of federal tax regulations and compliance.
  • Proven track record in handling complex transactions and business agreements.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Candidates with an LLM is big plus!
