Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Estate Planning Attorney to join a well-established law firm in Chicago, specializing in estate planning, trust administration, and related areas of law. In this role, you will provide expert legal counsel to clients in creating customized estate plans and managing their estates, ensuring their long-term goals are met with precision and care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estate planning, tax strategies, and client relationship management.
Key Responsibilities:
Advise clients on estate planning matters, including the preparation of wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and other related documents.
Develop tailored estate plans that align with clients' needs, ensuring tax efficiency and asset protection.
Provide legal guidance on trust administration, probate processes, and estate distribution.
Work with clients to minimize estate and gift taxes through effective planning strategies.
Counsel clients on charitable giving, wealth transfer, and business succession planning.
Draft legal documents, such as trusts, wills, and healthcare directives.
Guide clients on changes in estate planning laws, ensuring their plans remain compliant and effective.
Maintain ongoing communication with clients, ensuring their questions are addressed and their goals are met.
Collaborate with other attorneys, financial advisors, and accountants to create holistic estate plans.
Participate in business development activities, including networking, marketing, and community outreach.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice law in the state of Illinois.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in estate planning, trust administration, and related legal matters.
Strong understanding of estate planning strategies, tax considerations, and wealth transfer methods.
Experience working with high-net-worth clients and complex estates.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts to clients clearly and concisely.
Ability to manage a variety of client matters while maintaining attention to detail.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and client service.
Experience with estate planning software is a plus.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Business development experience is a plus.
